§ 475-3. Purpose.

    The purposes of this chapter and zoning districts as outlined on the Zoning Map are to provide for orderly growth in accordance with a comprehensive plan, to lessen congestion in streets, to secure safety from fire, flood and other dangers, to provide adequate light and air, to prevent overcrowding of land, to avoid undue concentration of population, to facilitate the adequate provisions of transportation, water, sewerage, schools, parks and other public requirements and to promote the health, safety, and general welfare of the public.
    B. 
    The Zoning Law has been made with reasonable consideration, among other things, to the character of each district and its peculiar suitability for particular uses, and with a view to conserving the value of buildings and encouraging the most appropriate use of land.
